This paper describes the performance of a newly developed absorption heat pump (temperature booster) of 100 kW, which is applied for a low-temperature waste heat recovery. The heat pump is based on the principle of LiBr/H2O absorption and a two-stage cycle. It is well known that heat exchanger technology is the most important for an absorption heat pump. Therefore, sophisticated heat and mass transfer tubes were newly developed, and a compact, highly efficient absorber and generator were achieved. As a result, it was confirmed that the heat pump can boost the waste heat temperature by approximately 60°C and can provide 120°C to 150°C steam from the waste heat of temperatures from 60°C to 90°C.
