Describes the intelligent building management system (BMS) installed at Munich airport. The system serves 160 buildings and provides comfort and safety for the 12,000 employees and 15 million passengers who use the airport each year. The system has the capacity to serve 200,000 points. Its domain ranges from power plant, to runway lights, to the terminal’s people-moving equipment. Illustrates schematically subsystems integrated into the airport BMS. Describes the planning behind the system and the decision to use a direct distributed system with an open architecture. Notes the advantage taken of all energy saving opportunities with power management, lighting control and comfort optimisation.
