This paper provides an overview of a proposed new European standard for determining the heating and cooling capacity of radiant hydraulic systems, where pipes are embedded in the building structure (floor, wall, ceiling). Different calculation methods are proposed depending on the position of the pipes and type of construction (screed-concrete, wood). The proposed standard is partly based on an existing European standard (EN1264). This existing standard is, however, only applicable for floor heating. This paper shows how the method has been extended for wall and ceiling surfaces and for cooling. Additional methods are then proposed for other types of constructions (wood, concrete).
