There is a need to decrease the peak electricity demand by reducing the energy used in space conditioning in order to reduce the stress on the electricity grid. Thermal energy storage (TES) has the potential shift the peak electricity demand. PCM is a type of TES that is researched to be included in the building envelope. This study introduces a new full size environmental chamber capable of testing full scale envelope panels and develop experimental data to validate PCM models used in building energy simulation programs.
