The Trenton Integrated Community Energy System (ICES) is a new, diesel-powered cogenerated district heating system in Trenton, New Jersey. The project has a peak capacity of 12 megawatts electric and 179 million Btu/h thermal with provisions for expansion. Thermal distribution is by hot water with send-out temperatures ranging from 180°F to 400°F (820°C – 204°C) in three loops with independently controlled temperatures. The central plant is fueled with natural gas and low-sulphur oil.
