High velocity duct systems, with resultant smaller duct sizes, are a consequence of space limitations in modern buildings. High velocity air produces high friction gradients and therefore high pressure is required at the fan and throughout the system to maintain the design air flow. Thus, systems generally known as "high velocity air distribution systems" are inherently high static pressure air distribution systems and will be referred to as such in this paper.
