Eighty-five people died and more than 600 were injured in the fire at Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Hotel 35 years ago this month. This article looks back at the fire and discusses fire safety improvements prompted by the historic blaze, including improved elevator recall, elevator smoke protection, pressurized stairwells and fully sprinklered buildings.
