Evaporative cooling and forced convection can be used effectively to improvethe performance of dairy cattle 1n hot climates. Combining evaporation withair movement for cooling animals without complete confinement provides a newapproach in utilizing these two old and common methods of cooling. Pre-cooledair passing over the body surfaces at low velocity and inhaled by the animalsreduces heat stress sufficiently for substantial improvements in productiveand reproductive performance.
