- Cleaning procedures have been added to the user information.
- Melting requirements have been revised for fire escape rope, webbing, harnesses, and belts.
- A requirement for escape anchors in escape and fire escape systems to be tested individually has been added.
- Clarification regarding slippage and how it should be measured during static testing of belts, life safety harnesses, and victim extrication devices has been added.
The revisions for the sections of the standard taken from NFPA 1858, Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Life Safety Rope and Equipment for Emergency Services, include the relocation of certain annex material.
The material from NFPA 1670, Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, has been changed to ensure alignment in the new document, as well as alignment with the newly published NFPA 1006, Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications.
