The purpose of this paper is to provide information concerning the services available to the engineer from consulting applied climatologists in private practice.

Differentiation is made between the type of assistance available from a “private consulting meteorologist” and from a “private consulting applied climatologist.”

Examples are provided to illustrate the unfortunate results that can be realized when the engineer chooses to “do his own thing” with weather data that he has obtained on his own.

This is followed by an illustration of the type of results that can be achieved when the engineer and the private consulting applied climatologist work together as a team from the beginning, each taking the time to understand the basic problems by which they are confronted, and each realizing the other’s limitations.
