This paper is based on findings resulting from ASHRAE Research Project RP-1495.

This paper discusses conclusions drawn from prior research regarding the distribution of water between vapor and liquid phases of refrigerants. In addition, it outlines the results froman investigation of the behavior of this distribution in the presence of a lubricant. Furthermore, this paper provides insight into how the industry might use this information to improve processes of contamination control. Finally, this paper suggests further research to continue to understand the behavior of moisture in a "real world" refrigeration system.
