In addition to research programs and support for technology development, ASHRAE is on an aggressive path forward to improve both new and existing buildings. Six key elements include AEDGs, Standard 90.1, Standard 189.1, Standard 100 and operations and maintenance guidance. The movement from prescriptive standards, to performance standards, and eventually to outcome based standards, will be just one essential step on the path to success, says the author.
