This document is provided as a general guide to individuals responsible for the inspection and acceptance testing of process analyzer systems and field enclosures. It shall be understood that each analyzer system is an individually engineered product and not a commodity item. System-specific inspection and tests may be required before final acceptance and should be detailed in each Process Analyzer System Data Sheet (PIP PCSPA02D).
Inspection and acceptance tests may involve the participation of the Owner Company, an engineering and construction (E&C) contractor, an analyzer systems vendor (ASV) or integrator, and the analyzer vendor(s) or analyzer original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Participation shall be defined in Process Analyzer Project Implementation Guidelines (PIP PCEPA002).
Inspections and acceptance tests defined herein assume that physical inspections are conducted at both the analyzer OEM and the ASV. Before conducting an acceptance test, statistical quality control (SQC) performance data are commonly required.
Inspection and acceptance tests are typically conducted at three levels. First, inspection and acceptance tests of the process analyzer(s) are conducted by the OEM. Second, inspection and acceptance tests of the fabricated process analyzer systems and shelter(s) are conducted by the ASV. Third, the installed systems are performance tested on site as a requirement for turnover to the Owner Company.
