The findings for this research project ultimately indicate that there is inadequate availability of information which is necessary to accurately compare real world supermarket refrigeration systems with regard to energy consumption and cost. The lack of information is applicable to well established systems and novel systems alike. The desire for conclusive results creates a need for in-depth experimental study to determine and quantify the factors which have an impact on energy consumption so that such factors can be accounted for in commercial low-temperature refrigeration systems allowing for an accurate comparison and unequivocal results. Such a study would greatly benefit commercial refrigeration system manufacturers, component suppliers, supermarket owners, and the refrigeration research community. With so many parties standing to benefit from experimental investigation, strong support for such a project would be expected.
