This is a report from the Phase I of the original ASHRAE 1507-RP. The objective of this phase was to develop a database of past pertinent binary flame boundary concentrations and to determine needed values for 10 current component pairs of commonly used and newly introduced flammable/nonflammable component pairs. These pairs are being used or evaluated in the development of commercial refrigerants. Flammability data for these binaries at 23°C and 60°C with controlled air (50% relative humidity) were to be developed. Testing was to follow the guidelines set in the current issue ofASHRAE Standard 34. This database will aid in the assessment of new refrigerant blends for SSPC 34 and assure the accuracy of data from flame test apparatus at various laboratories.
This report was a combined effort of Debra Kennoy, Robert G. Richard, and Andrew Kusmierz, the principal investigator.
