This report presents the findings and results of Phase I of a project that examines automated fault detection and diagnostics (AFDD) methods for the main energy systems of supermarkets: HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting. Phase I concentrates on the collection of information about existing equipment systems, faults, AFDD methods, and operational data in a supermarket application. This information and data will contribute to phase II, which is intended to be development and field implementation of AFDD for supermarket systems. Phase I is divided into five numbered tasks.
