There is insufficient data available for the proper design and sizing of steam condensate systems. Condensate systems, being integral parts of complete steam thermal systems, affect and are affected by the performance of the other components of the system. The objectives of this proposed project are fourfold.

(1) To categorize the steam condensate systems into appropriate groupings (2) To conduct for each of the groups found in (1) , an analytical study to determine the factors effecting the sizing of the piping systems as a function of mass flow (3) To verify the analytical studies in (2) by appropriate laboratory testing (4) To develop formulae, tables, and/or graphs of the results of (2) and (3)

The project objectives were carried out using the following six phases of investigation. (1) Conducting a literature search (2) Classification of condensate return systems (3) Evaluation of existing available information (4) Experimental evaluations (5) Data correlations (6) Development of formulae, tables, and/or graphs
