The sets of 51 WYEC hourly tapes give a good geographic spread of weather data related to the heating and cooling of buildings. Reliable estimates can be made of the comparative energy requirements for the same type building located somewhere “in between” the hourly data sets using the iso-line maps prepared for this report. A planned follow-on research project will derive BIN data in 5 degrees F bins for four-hour periods based on these WYEC tapes. The adjustments made in preparing these WYEC hourly data tapes for 51 locations assure a continuing reliability over an extended time span. They are representative of the mean condition and do not represent the coldest winter or the warmest winter that has occurred or can occur. Mean and median data are presented to represent summer conditions. High variability from year to year will continue to take place, but the energy requirements for a building over an extended period of time should be well reflected by these weather data sets.
