This is a report of an investigation of the operating experiences with heat recovery heat pumps (HRHPs) at 22 industry sites and in 8 commercial/institutional buildings in North America. The project objective was to identify, gather, analyze and present information on such systems which would be beneficial to both consulting engineers and engineers in industry. The information was to include energy performance, economics of operation, operating difficulties and operator and management reactions, as well as details on the design of the various HRHPs.
