Cogeneration has enjoyed renewed popularity during this decade primarily due to escalating energy costs and government incentives designed to reduce foreign energy dependence. To make efficient use of the heat generated in producing electricity, high efficiency absorption chillers can be utilized when chilled water is required for either space conditioning or industrial process use. Able to operate on several heat sources, today’s absorbers complement all types of prime movers employed in cogeneration design.
