Instead of designing HVAC systems based on safety factors that often result in oversized equipment and higher installed costs, the author suggests avoiding applying safety factors when calculating design outdoor airflow and design dehumidification capacity, and instead selecting the dedicated outdoor air (OA) equipment with reserve capacity.
