In this report, we will present real-time online optimization control, to minimize the energy consumption in a district cooling plant. The technique of optimization is based on the digital twin, which is a hybrid process model: a combination of a thermodynamic process model and a statistical regression model. The hybrid process model is a digital replica of a physical plant, and reproduces the actual process behaviors of system, based on the real time process data from plants. Herein, it is utilized as the applications of equipment monitoring and optimization in real time. Herein, as well as the theoretical background for real-time online optimization control methodology, the report contains examples of successful application including the reduction in energy consumption rates. The effectiveness of the real-time online optimization control methodology and the actual reduction of energy consumption by applying the optimization are shown based on the result of operation data.
