What will be the answer if someone tried walking on the street and asking ten mothers in which pregnancy month their child had been born? The answer will be shocking because according to World Health organization (WHO 2012) at least one out of those ten mothers will answer that her kid was born earlier than his/her time! There are more than 15 million premature babies in the world having their first breath every year earlier than their times and more than 1.1 million of them the first few breaths unfortunately become their last. Moreover, if this question is asked to 1000 Egyptian mothers at least one of them will answer that she lost her newborn baby after a few hours. (HNN 2017) On the other hand, no one can deny the fact that the incubators have reduced the number of died newborn babies and the first axiomatic definition of the infant incubator is a device that help maintaining the newborn babies environment (Temperature and oxygen) as it was in their mothers’ womb. For this reason, this research paper will highlight the temperature distribution and heat transfer inside the incubator in order to come up with the most suitable design for the incubators that will give the most comfortable and safe heat distribution for the babies inside. The main objective in this research is to study the heat losses and temperature distribution in the single-wall infant incubators. Then adding a design modification which will be the heated extra wall to come up with an infant heated double-wall incubator to reduce the heat losses especially from radiation and convection. However, the flow and the temperature distribution will be affected from those modifications. The research will study this effect and will specifically compare between the single-wall infant incubators and the heated double-wall infant incubators using CFD analysis method to determine which design has the least heat losses and the best temperature distribution.
