Building surveys showed that steam-heated buildings use more water than buildings not heated with steam. Four projects were identified where steam boilers were replaced with hydronic boilers. The results show that converting buildings from steam heat to hydronic heat saves more energy than replacing old steam boilers with new steam boilers.
